Let’s talk about your core for a second
That small waist and toned abs are “goals” for many of us, myself included. We’re always searching for that magic core workout that will give us results in minutes. There are so many workout guides or cut sheets out there that say things like “get abs in 2 weeks by following this” or “quick and easy abs today”.
These are all fine and good because any workout you do is doing good to your body, but there are some other key things to throw in the mix that aren’t talked about.
When I think about my abs, I think about the little pooch area below my belly button area that never seems to want to fully move on. Many workouts promise to eliminate that with a series of crunches and sit-ups. This is where the false reality comes in because your abs have nothing to do with that pooch.
The only way you’re doing to eliminate that pooch is with heavy lifting, cardio and green food, my friends. This is the truth many dread, abs don’t seem like they should take that much work.
Cardio is only my favorite if I’m stressed and need to think. Overdoing it on cardio also isn’t the magic cure to the pooch and getting you those fab abs either.
When you do cardio, weight lifting and healthy eating, you’re lowing your overall body fat percentage. I haven’t ranted about this yet on this blog, but you can’t spot reduce. The only way you can get rid of fat in one targeted area is by paying for a doctor to remove it.
Not only cardio lowers your overall body fat, lifting a mixture of heavy and light weights before cardio actual burns the same, if not more, calories as cardio. And for a bonus, your body continues to burn calories from lifting weights long after you leave the gym.
Muscles burn calories constantly, even out of the gym.
Back to the core workout
As long as you’re adding lifting, cardio and shaping up your diet, you will see those abs you’re working for.
My workout guide below incorporates standard abdominal workouts, more challenging moves, and cardio to give you a fully balanced core workout.
